1. Describe your experience. (Did you find it beneficial? Difficult?) Why or Why not? Would you recommend this to others? Why or Why not?
I thought the first session was very relaxing and it made me think about extending out to help others. I really liked when we were asked to think of someone who is hurting and to breath in their suffering and exhale life to them. This exercise became quite difficult though when there was a group to do this to. I believe you would have to be much stronger mentally to help a group in this manner.
The second one was also nice, for me I need to take one thing at a time.
2. What is the concept of “Mental Workout? What does the research indicate are the proven benefits of a Mental Work Out? How can you implement mental workouts to foster your psychological health?
I think a mental workout is very important for our lives. If we do not exercise our mind than that reflect in our everyday lives. With out "workouts" then our minds become like sludge. I believe what we take in grows in our minds, is harvested in our hearts and then it flows out of our mouths. It is unnatural for us to think positive all of the time, it is a continual growth that we have to do.
Casey,
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you. Our minds become sludge. I am finding as I exercise my body. The mental workouts are improving my thoughts. There has always been the problem of wandering. Of course, you need to remember doing this or that but my focus needs to be at the task at hand.
As I begin the focus my thoughts, I will be effective at group suffering. We are making a effort to change our mindset. It is not going to be 1,2,3. We are getting there. As we refine the heart of Christ, this will be a piece of cake.
Casey,
ReplyDeleteI am really enjoying the mental exercises. However, I have previously experienced the concept of loving-kindness. These exercises remind me of Christ's teachings. It's kind of like Duh!!! But I really appreciate that even though it doesn't incorporate Christ, at least the research substantiates the existance of a spiritual realm.
